Conclusions The HPV-4 programs had significant impacts on lowering AGW rates in BC. The greatest decrease was among WSM eligible for the school-based program, followed by birth cohorts of men who likely have sex with HPV-4 eligible women. The smallest decrease among MSM may reflect the later introduction of the clinic-based program.
Report notes increase in diagnoses of sexually transmitted infections (n=468,342, increase 5%), gonorrhoea (n=70,936; 26%), syphilis (n=7,982; 10%), and Mycoplasma genitalium (5,311; 196%) since 2018, but decreases in first episode genital warts in 15 to 17 year olds.
CONCLUSION: Although HPV constitutes an evolving paradigm in cancer prevention, optimizing screening test performance, and cost-effectiveness remains debatable. PMID: 32862567 [PubMed - in process]
Abstract Human papillomaviruses (HPVs) belongs to the Papillomaviridae family, which is divided into high-risk (HR), and low-risk (LR) HPVs based on their disease-causing competence. HR-HPVs 16 and 18 are known to cause distinct carcinomas like cervical and head and neck, whereas LR-HPVs are commonly associated with the genital warts. We have developed an integrative platform; HPVomics dedicated to the potential therapeutic regimens targeting all HPV genes including oncoproteins E6, E7 and E5. We primarily focused on eighteen HR-HPVs and eleven LR-HPVs. It mainly deals with therapeutically imperative elements, i.e...

Background It is unclear how the characteristics of CD4 counts predict non–AIDS-defining human papillomavirus–related anogenital warts (AGWs) and anal high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions/cancer (HSIL+) in people living with HIV infection-1 (PLWH). We compared the associations between 3 CD4 counts measures and these disease outcomes in the study. Methods Retrospective sociobehavioral and clinical data from electronic health records of 4803 PLWH from 2006 to 2018 were included. Three different measurements of CD4 counts—(a) nadir, (b) median, and (c) trajectory—were estimated. Six CD4 tra...
Abstract The Toll-like receptor 7 (TLR7) agonist imiquimod is an antitumor and antiviral drug used for the treatment of skin indications such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and genital warts caused by the human papilloma virus. We show that imiquimod has TLR7-independent activity in which it directly inhibits phosphodiesterase (PDE), leading to cAMP increase, PKA-mediated CREB phosphorylation and subsequent CRE-dependent reporter transcription. The activation of the cAMP pathway by imiquimod is synergistically amplified by the β-adrenergic receptor agonist, isoproterenol. PDE inhibition is ...
