Authors ’ reply

We were baffled by the unpleasant tones of the letter to the editor submitted to your prestigious journal by Ludwin et al [1] in reference to our recently published article [2]. Among well respected scientists, it is clearly understood that the scientific discussion should always engage in constructive and responsible opposition of ideas, rather than in disrespectful insinuations. This principle should be applied in particular when a scientific debate is printed on a scientific journal, in order not to only discredit the authors' work but to also protect the credibility of the editorial team and the journal itself.
