Light distortion of soft multifocal contact lenses with different pupil size and shape

The number of users of multifocal contact lenses has been rising due to the increasing popularity of these devices for presbyopic correction [1]. Most of the current multifocal designs are based on the principle of simultaneous image formation, in which multiple images are formed by different powered areas within the optic zone [2]. However, this principle can be associated with visual side effects, such as disability glare or haloes, especially when the pupil size increases, as in low illumination conditions.
