Conclusions: Both microdecompression and wide open laminectomy with posterior stabilization were effective in treatment of multilevel lumbar spinal stenosis with superior results of microdecompression regarding less back pain postoperatively with less blood loss and soft tissue dissection. Clinical trial number: NCT04087694. PMID: 31827656 [PubMed - in process]

CONCLUSIONS: This method of isokinetic data analysis through fast Fourier transformation can be used to improve diagnostic accuracy of a difficult detection injury. Even present, a partial ACL injury can produce a stable knee during isokinetic testing and could be used to detect candidates for conservative treatment based on strengthening exercises, reducing surgery risks, and financial and social impact on patient's life. Recent clinical practice guidelines for the management of non-specific low back pain (LBP) recommend using stratified care approaches. To date, no study has assessed barriers and facilitators for health profes...
Parkinson ’s is a common progressive neurological condition characterised by impairments of movement and balance; and non-motor deficits. It is now accepted that physical activity is a fundamental for people with Parkinson’s (PwP), despite this PwP remain inactive. There is a social and financial drive to increase physical activity for PwP through physical self-management, however little is known about this concept.
To evaluate the construct validity of two dexterity measures, the 9-Hole Peg Test (9HPT) and Purdue Pegboard Test (PPT) in people with Parkinson ’s disease (PD).
A 63-YEAR-OLD male (weight 51 kg, height 155 cm) underwent mitral valve repair for mitral regurgitation using a 28 mm Carpentier-Edwards Physio annuloplasty ring (Edwards Lifesciences, Irvine, CA). Bicaval cannulation was performed, and a transseptal approach was adopted. A left atrial vent (16 French) was inserted through the right pulmonary vein. A repeat transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) examination was performed before separation from cardiopulmonary bypass. At this juncture, a 4-chamber midesophageal TEE interrogation identified a “paravalvular” leak at what would be the normal location of the P1 scal...
ConclusionsSeveral shared and unique barriers and facilitators to using the stratified care approaches for non-specific LBP among Canadian physiotherapists and chiropractors were identified. Findings may help inform the design of tailored theory-based knowledge translation interventions to increase the uptake of stratified care approaches in clinical practice.

This report describes the development and implementation of a physiotherapy-led bronchoscopy service from a regional hospital perspective. What is known about the topic?Although ESoP and ASoP physiotherapy roles are well established in the UK, such services appear to be only just evolving in Australia. Clarity on the definitions of extended and advanced physiotherapy roles have been articulated by the Australian Physiotherapy Association. However, there is a paucity of evidence published on the practicalities of establishing advanced or extended scope cardiorespiratory physiotherapy services within Australian ICUs.What does...
