Bar code–like hair: Dermoscopic marker of tinea capitis and tinea of the eyebrow

A 79-year-old woman presented with a 3-month history of progressive hair loss in the occipital and right eyebrow regions. Physical examination revealed numerous erythematous and alopecic plaques with pustules on her occiput (Fig 1, inset). There was also a small erythematous scaly patch on her right inner eyebrow with hair loss (Fig 2, inset). The remainder of the history and physical examination was unremarkable.
