Acne management using the smartphone and mobile health platform: acne progression characterization

Introduction: Acne is the most prevalent skin care problem amongst teens, affecting between 79-95% of adolescents in western countries. Acne is now considered as an important medical condition associated with physical and emotional consequences. These consequences can be mitigated or prevented with accurate and early diagnosis and prompt initiation of therapy. Advances in smartphone cameras have opened the doors for mobile applications that can help patients improve their knowledge, facilitate prompt clinician access, as well as helping with treatment adherence.
