Rhode Island Man Starts Fundraiser to Purchase New Ambulance

TIVERTON, R.I. (WPRI) - The Tiverton Fire Department has been relying on ambulances from its mutual aid partners for months while its own remain out of service, and now one concerned resident is trying to raise money to purchase new ones for the town. According to Acting Fire Chief Bruce Reimels, one of the department's original rescues is operational again, but they are still borrowing an ambulance from Warren. The department announced in early February that all of their ambulances were out of service due to mechanical issues. "The fact is we need an ambulance... working rescues so that the paramedics can do what they need to do," Tom Buchanan of Tiverton said. Buchanan recently started a GoFundMe page to try and collect donations for the department to purchase a new ambulance. MORE
