Internal hernia after duodenal switch
Background: Routine closure of mesenteric defects in laparoscopic gastric bypass has dramatically decreased the incidence of internal hernia (IH). Duodenal switch (DS) is the most effective bariatric operation both in terms of weight loss and effect on comorbidity. The opinions about the need to close the mesenteric defects in DS are still split.
