Prevalence and pathophysiology of early dumping in patients after primary Roux-en-Y gastric bypass during a Mixed Meal Tolerance Test.
Morbid obesity is a growing healthcare problem in the world and, consequently, effective weight-loss strategies are needed. Weight-loss surgery is the most effective way to achieve sustained weight loss, resolve comorbidity and improve survival.(1) Currently, one of the most frequently performed operations is the laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB). This procedure is effective but it is known to have several complications. One of these, early dumping, is poorly defined and incompletely understood.
