Kaiser pushes toward carbon neutrality with major renewable energy buy

Kaiser Permanente has finalized a renewable energy deal moving the Oakland-based managed care organization toward its commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2020. The 180-megawatt power purchasing agreement with NextEra Energy Resources, the largest generator of wind and solar energy in North America, is enough to power 27 of the health system’s 39 hospitals.
