Role of strain elastosonography, B mode and color duplex ultrasonography in differentiation between benign and malignant axillary lymph nodes

Conclusion: combined gray scale, color Doppler US and elastography improve diagnostic accuracy of conventional ultrasound alone in differentiation between benign and malignant axillary lymph nodes with sensitivity 86.67%, and specificity 93.33%; accuracy 88.33%.

This study was designed to investigate the association of rs7903146 (C/T) polymorphism of TCF7L-2 gene with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in Asian Indians.MethodsIn this case-control study 162 non-diabetic subjects with NAFLD and 173 body mass index (BMI)-matched controls without NAFLD were recruited. Abdominal ultrasound, clinical and biochemical investigations, fasting insulin levels and value of homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) was measured. Single nucleotide polymorphism rs7903146 (C/T) was genotyped by polymerase chain reaction–restriction fragment length polymorphisms.Res...

Authors: Choi WJ, Ha YR, Oh JH, Cho YS, Lee WW, Sohn YD, Cho GC, Koh CY, Do HH, Jeong WJ, Ryoo SM, Kwon JH, Kim HM, Kim SJ, Park CY, Lee JH, Lee JH, Lee DH, Park SY, Kang BS Abstract Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) is a useful tool that is widely used in the emergency and intensive care areas. In Korea, insurance coverage of ultrasound examination has been gradually expanding in accordance with measures to enhance Korean National Insurance Coverage since 2017 to 2021, and which will continue until 2021. Full coverage of health insurance for POCUS in the emergency and critical care areas was implemented in July 201...

CONCLUSIONS: The Aquablation procedure for the treatment of BPO allows high clinical efficacy with an excellent safety profile. For prostate volume 30-80 cc, comparative studies demonstrated that this procedure offers clinical results at least comparable to those of conventional TURP. Latest evidence showed that Aquablation may be used effectively for prostate volumes up to 150 cc. The major strengths are its high-speed resection time, low complication rate, and potential for sexual function preservation. PMID: 32083415 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Authors: Angeles MA, Migliorelli F, León Ramírez LF, Ros C, Perissinotti A, Tapias A, Casanueva-Eliceiry S, Pahisa J, Torné A, Vidal-Sicart S, Del Pino M, Paredes P Abstract BACKGROUND: In endometrial cancer (EC), sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping has emerged as an alternative to systematic lymphadenectomy. Little is known about factors that might influence SLN preoperative detection. The aim of our study is to evaluate the clinical and technical variables that may influence on the success of SLN detection in preoperative lymphatic mapping in patients with intermediate and high-risk EC when per...

Authors: Nguyen P, Seto A Abstract Introduction: Angiography is routinely used to perform percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). However, angiography has many limitations that prevent accurate assessment of coronary lesions. The development and evolution of intravascular imaging has offset the limitations of angiography. Overwhelming evidence supports intravascular imaging guidance to optimize PCI results and studies have shown that it is associated with better outcomes. Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) are the most commonly used modalities and both have far greater spatial ...

We present a case report of an adult woman with AKL-positive ALCL, diagnosed by endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspirate (EBUS-TBNA).A 59-year-old women with no history of breast implants, was admitted for a four-month low back pain. Initially, the patient was treated for a spondyloarthropathy, but due to persistence of the symptoms, a lumbosacral MRI was performed, showing changes in morphology and signal intensity in the vertebral body of L3, along with edema and a paravertebral collection that affected the left psoas muscle, suggesting granulomatous spondylodiscitis. Chest CT-scan showed mild left ...

Purpose: To compare intraocular pressure, anterior segment optical coherence tomography, and ultrasound biomicroscopy parameters over 3 months after panretinal photocoagulation (PRP) for proliferative diabetic retinopathy after 1 of 2 sittings by conventional laser (half PRP) and a single sitting of Pattern Scan Laser (PASCAL) PRP. Methods: This was a prospective, randomized, interventional study. All tests were performed at baseline, and at 1, 6, and 24 hours, and 1, 4, 8, and 12 weeks after PRP. Results: The intraocular pressure at 1 hour and 6 hours after PRP was significantly raised in both groups. Mean intraoc...
