Abstract Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are implicated in various cellular and pathological processes. Two lncRNAs, myocardial infarction-associated transcript (MIAT) and metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1), may be involved in the pathogenesis of coronary artery disease (CAD). Here, we aimed to determine the relative circulating levels of MIAT and MALAT1 in 110 stable CAD patients and 117 controls and to correlate their levels with the clinical and laboratory data. Peripheral blood expression levels were quantified by Real-Time qPCR. The median MIAT expression level in CAD patients was significa...

Am I allowed to post the whole article here (for those facing a paywall? Ive posted a portion of it): To Drive Down Insulin Prices, W.H.O. Will Certify Generic Versions About 80 million people with diabetes around the world need the hormone, and half of them can’t afford it. Creating competition could help, the agency said.

DISCUSSION: ED utilization after outpatient hand surgery is low, with postoperative pain being the most common cause of an ED visit at all time points. Nearly 98% of patients presenting to the ED for postoperative pain are subsequently discharged home. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Level III, Retrospective Cohort. ConclusionFracture blisters cannot be assumed to be sterile with more than 10% of our sample being colonized. Blister rupture during surgery or prepping for surgery could represent a contamination of the sterile field. No risk factors were significantly associated with colonization in our sample. However, colonized aspirates may not predispose patients to increased infection rates.

Publication date: Available online 13 November 2019Source: Journal of Functional FoodsAuthor(s): Lei Chen, Xiujun Lin, Hui TengAbstractLow bioavailability of dihydromyricetin (DMY) affects its in vivo bioactivity. O/W-based microemulsions of DMY (S-DMY) were established and IR-induced HepG2 cells were conducted to investigate the effect of S-DMY on glucose metabolism in the present study. It was observed that the bioaccessibility of DMY increased treblein emulsified form, as assessed by Caco-2 cell models. We also found that both S-DMY and DMY increased the glucose consumption of insulin resistant cells, and elevated the l...

However, the effects of both rotating and extended night shift work (12-hr rotating night) on MetS has not well-known. We aimed to examine and clarify the association among petrochemical workers.MethodsWe recruited 1575 eligible workers in this study. According to shift work schedules the participants we...
