Authors: Oliveira FHM, Machado ARP, Andrade AO Abstract Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder that remains incurable. The available treatments for the disorder include pharmacologic therapies and deep brain stimulation (DBS). These approaches may cause distinct side effects and motor responses. This work presents the application of t-distributed stochastic neighbor embedding (t-SNE), which is a machine learning algorithm for nonlinear dimensionality reduction and data visualization, for the problem of discriminating neurologically healthy individuals from those suffering from PD (treated with lev...

Authors: Zhang J, Jing W, Zhang W, Jin Z Abstract In order to analyze the spread of avian influenza A (H7N9), we construct an avian influenza transmission model from poultry (including poultry farm, backyard poultry farm, live-poultry wholesale market, and wet market) to human according to poultry transport network. We obtain the threshold value for the prevalence of avian influenza A (H7N9) and also give the existence and number of the boundary equilibria and endemic equilibria in different conditions. We can see that poultry transport network plays an important role in controlling avian influenza A (H7N9). Finall...

ConclusionIn this study, malignant ovarian neoplasms accounted for 30% of all neoplastic ovarian specimens, and the incidence of AGCT was remarkable. Such tumours did not show a significantly altered expression of BRCA-1. Further studies must be conducted to explore the underlying molecular causes of this condition.

ConclusionsThe traditional 30-day outcome period is not enough to properly assess outcomes in pressure ulcer surgery such as readmission. We demonstrate that a period of at least 10 weeks and perhaps the entire global 90-day postoperative period would be more appropriate to evaluate readmissions after ulcer repair.

We examined duty hours from 165 third-year medical students on a surgery clerkship at a single institution for academic year 2016-2017. Partial correlations and logistic regression modeling were used to assess the number of hours medical students worked on academic outcomes.ResultsMedical student duty hours did not significantly correlate with the NBME Surgery Subject examination score (r= 0.08; p=0.34), CPE score (r=0.14; p=0.09) or a clerkship grade of Honors (OR 0.993; CI 0.925-1.065). Prior completion of an internal medicine clerkship was correlated with a higher NBME Surgery Subject examination score (r=0.27; p

ConclusionsIn this cadaveric study, the majority (92%) of fascial advancement afforded by posterior component separation was achieved by an intermediate step in the transversus abdominus release operation: division of the posterior lamella of the internal oblique.

ConclusionThe presence of a malignant heterologous component places the tumour into the malignant category regardless of other histological features.
