Background: There is a need to provide improvements in acute device service delivery for patients requiring cardiac implantable devices with measurable cost and clinical outcomes. We compared the model of a large tertiary centre with a 24/7 on call inter-hospital transfer (IHT) service compared to a large district hospital (DGH) cardiac department with catheter lab facilities for delivering urgent inpatient device therapy.
