In this report, we present a method of harvesting abdominal fat using a minimally invasive liposuction technique to avoid cosmetic issues. Since 2016, we have been using fat harvested from the abdominal wall by suctioning with a dedicated syringe for reconstruction after TSS in selected cases. The liquefied fat obtained by the liposuction technique was wrapped with an oxycellulose sheet and changed its form to what we termed "fatty candy". In this form, the fat maintained its configuration and could be handled almost as easily as a conventional fat graft. In our experienced series, there was no case with wound co...

Authors: Nürnberger S, Lindner C, Maier J, Strohmeier K, Wurzer C, Slezak P, Suessner S, Holnthoner W, Redl H, Wolbank S, Priglinger E Abstract The prerequisite for a successful clinical use of autologous adipose-tissue-derived cells is the highest possible regenerative potential of the applied cell population, the stromal vascular fraction (SVF). Current isolation methods depend on high enzyme concentration, lysis buffer, long incubation steps and mechanical stress, resulting in single cell dissociation. The aim of the study was to limit cell manipulation and obtain a derivative comprising therapeutic cells (...

Fat transfer has been recognized as an attractive tool for gluteal and breast augmentation, but harvesting limitations still represent a drawback, especially for post bariatric patients, as massive adipose deflation makes traditional liposuction less effective. On the other hand, circumferential apronectomies usually discard considerable amounts of viable fat tissue1.

There is no such thing as a life free of distress. And yet in the distress — by learning to move through it, find strengths that help us cope, and most importantly, not avoid it — we often find the path to growth. This path, from finding escape from the distress of life to finding growth in it, is also the journey that underlies the recovery from an eating disorder. “People with eating disorders, like all people, flourish when they feel a sense of agency,” write authors Laura J. Goodman and Mona Villapiano. In their new book, Eating Disorders: The Journey to Recovery Workbook, 2nd Ed., Laura J. Good...
