How to rehabilitate the maxillary arch?

I am considering as my primary treatment plan doing bilateral sinus lifts with bone grafts and installing 3 implants on each side or All on 4.

Authors: Yang L, Zhang X, Lv X, Yu H Abstract Radiotherapy and surgery are important radical treatment options for cervical cancer, but the presence of a pelvic kidney complicates the situation. Fine radiation technique can help avoiding side effects. Radiation to the modified pelvis using intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) followed by brachytherapy, while avoiding the renal allograft is technically feasible which ensures adequate target volume and reduces side effects. Here, the authors report a 45-year-old patient with invasive cervical cancer with a pelvic kidney who was treated by pelvic IMRT in combinatio...

Conclusion The vertical guided bone regeneration strategy of using allograft bone and a resorbable collagen membrane has the potential to eliminate the need for additional procedures, which are required with non-resorbable membranes, sinus lift procedures, and extensive block graft procedures.

In this study, we identified a novel anti-inflammatory effect of miR-199b-5p (miR-199b) through the GSK3 β and NF-κB pathways. THP-1 monocytes treated with LPS showed a significant decrease in miR-199b that is inversely correlated to GSK3β expression and NF-κB activation. Furthermore, the NF-κB-associated inflammatory response was reduced due to the overexpression of miR-199b targeting GSK3β, whi ch was rescued by the inhibition of miR-199b. These results indicated that miR-199b attenuated the inflammatory response at least partly through the GSK3β/NF-κB signaling pathways in mon...

Abstract Background: The incidence and extent of graft extrusion after meniscus allograft transplantation (MAT) may differ in patients undergoing medial and lateral meniscus transplantation due to the use of different surgical techniques. This meta-analysis was therefore designed to quantify the extent and incidence of graft extrusion after meniscus allograft transplantation. Methods: Following preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, all studies reporting absolute extrusion, relative percentage of extrusion (RPE), or frequency of major extrusions (>3 m...

Authors: Krejci K, Tichy T, Bednarikova J, Zamboch K, Zadrazil J Abstract BK virus nephropathy (BKVN) is a serious opportunistic infection threatening renal function especially during the first year after transplantation. Its incidence is now on the rise and is closely related to the level of the recipient's immune system inhibition. This is more intensive with current trends in transplantation medicine, where more potent immunosuppressive protocols are used and more aggressive antirejection therapy is applied. In the absence of BK virus (BKV) specific therapy and limited treatment options for advanced BKVN, active...

Various causes for bone defects of the lower jaw have been described. As a result, patients often suffer from compromised aesthetics and a loss of, or reduction in, important physiological functions, such as swallowing, breathing, and speaking. A change in the shape of the lower jaw can impair the natural occlusion and leads to an atypical or modified position of the temporomandibular joint. Titanium reconstruction plates are the standard approach to jaw reconstruction, and are used for temporary bridging of a jaw defect or fixation of a bone graft.

The orbital roof is composed predominantly of thin bone. While many fractures do not require surgical repair, mobile fragments can result in the transmission of cerebral pulsations into the orbit that symptomatically affect the globe.1 Mild symptoms usually settle spontaneously,2 but in symptomatic or severely displaced cases, repair may be indicated.3 Bone grafts, titanium mesh, and other alloplastic materials may be used for reconstruction,4 but we prefer to use the patient ’s original or autogenous bone, as it allows for a degree of remodelling.

AbstractPurpose of ReviewThis review provides an overview of well-established and newly developed cartilage repair techniques for cartilage defects in the patellofemoral joint (PFJ). An algorithm will be presented for approaching cartilage defects considering the distinct anatomy of both the patellar and trochlear articular surfaces.Recent FindingsRecent studies on cartilage repair in the PFJ have demonstrated improved outcomes in an attempt to delay or obviate the need for arthroplasty, and improve symptoms in young patients. While autologous chondrocyte implantation shows good and excellent outcomes for chondral lesions,...
