Back in 1992, Chuck Sherwood took the reins of a new public biotech called Anika Therapeutics. The company was small and unprofitable, operating out of incubator space in Woburn. It had a single product: a surgical aid used in cataract procedures. For years, its stock price hovered around $2 or $3. Flash forward to today, and Anika (Nasdaq: ANIK) is still going strong.
