Background: Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) or flutter is prevalent among patients with cryptogenic stroke. The goal of this study was to investigate the feasibility of incorporating a fast-track, long term continuous heart monitoring (LTCM) program within a stroke clinic.Method: We designed and implemented a fast-track LTCM program in our stroke clinics. The instrument that we used for the study was the ZioXT® device from IRhythm™ Technologies. To implement the program, all clinic support staff received training on the skin preparation and proper placement of the device. We prospectively followed every pati...

In conclusion, our study has established a pathophysiological role for ROS signaling in atrial cardiomyocytes, and it may be that ox-CaMKII and p-CaMKII (Thr-286) are activated by ROS to increase AF susceptibility following ibrutinib treatment. We have also identified the inhibition of NOX as a potential novel AF therapy approach.

ász Csanádi Vígh Bácskay BGP-15 is a new insulin sensitizer drug candidate, which was developed by Hungarian researchers. In recent years, numerous research groups have studied its beneficial effects. It is effective in the treatment of insulin resistance and it has protective effects in Duchenne muscular dystrophy, diastolic dysfunction, tachycardia, heart failure, and atrial fibrillation, and it can alleviate cardiotoxicity. BGP-15 exhibits chemoprotective properties in different cytostatic therapies, and has also proven to be photoprotective. It can additionally have advantageou...

AbstractAimThe aim of the study was to investigate the role of anatomical characteristics of the pulmonary veins (PVs) determining cooling kinetics during second ‐generation cryoballoon ablation (CbA).Methods and Resultswe enrolled all consecutive patients who underwent CbA for symptomatic atrial fibrillation in our center from January 2019 to March 2019. All patients had complete computed tomography scans of the heart before the ablation. Anatomical characteristics were tested for prediction of a nadir temperature (NT)  ≤ −48°C. Significant differences were noted among PV max diameter (20.8&th...

Direct current cardioversion is a common management option for termination of tachydysrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter. It is generally safe and effective with infrequent reporting of side effects. Pulmonary edema is a rare complication with reported incidence of 1 –3% and mortality of 18%. Our literature search did not reveal any reported cases of postcardioversion pulmonary edema in the emergency medicine literature.

AbstractIntroductionAblation with second ‐generation cryoballoon technology evolves as an effective and safe alternative to radiofrequency for atrial fibrillation ablation procedures. Nevertheless, the optimal freezing strategy remains unknown. Our objective was to identify the procedural cryoablation parameters predicting successful per i‐pulmonary vein (PV) lesions by directly analyzing post‐ablation gaps in late gadolinium‐enhanced cardiac magnetic resonance (LGE‐CMR).Methods and resultsForty ‐nine consecutive patients (196 PVs) undergoing ablation with second‐generation cryoballoon at our center were incl...

This study applied network pharmacology to identify 94 active components in the six TCM liver-regulating herbs and 182 corresponding targets from several databases and comprehensive literature studies, as well as retrieved AF combined with OSAHS-related targets. Cytoscape software was adopted to construct the component-component target network and component-putative target-AF combined with OSAHS target network. Then, we obtained 38 putative therapeutic targets against AF combined with OSAHS. After the production of a putative therapeutic target interaction network, topological analysis was adopted to determine the core tar...
