Mount Sinai posts nearly triples income
Mount Sinai Medical Center saw its profits nearly triple in the fourth quarter, mostly thanks to a positive trend on its insurance side.
The nonprofit hospital in Miami Beach had net income of $19.8 million, compared to net income of $6.7 million in the same period a year ago. The recent quarter included a $14.5 million gain because positive trends in its medical malpractice claims experience allowed it to reduce its liabilities.
