CONCLUSIONS: This survey provided a comprehensive update of the present cataract surgery practices in the Republic of Korea. The results emphasized the increasing use of premium intraocular lenses, optical biometry, and topical anesthesia. PMID: 31612656 [PubMed - in process]
ConclusionsAll lenses showed excellent surface quality. After folding and injection process some superficial scratches and tears of the IOL optic were detected in some models. Further studies are needed to assess the possible effects of those superficial damages on the optical quality of the IOLs.
AbstractPurposeTo compare the perceived pain and estimated operative duration among patients undergoing bilateral cataract surgery and to demonstrate correlations with the surgical interval and the demographic and medical characteristics of the patients.MethodsA total of 466 patients with cataract who underwent ocular surgery were included. The patients estimated the perceived operative duration and pain they felt during the operation at two times, immediately after surgery and on the first postoperative day; pain was scored using a visual analog scale ranging from 0 (no pain) to 10 (unbearable pain). Patients undergoing b...
Authors: Chadha RM, Dexter F, Brull SJ Abstract Background: We evaluated the validity of assessing patient satisfaction with the sedation regimen among patients being discharged 45 minutes after receiving midazolam. If most patients do not have recall, then the sedation cannot be considered complete at the time of evaluation. Methods: In this prospective cohort study, 20 patients underwent cataract surgery with nurse-administered midazolam and fentanyl. The 11-item Iowa Satisfaction with Anesthesia Scale was administered ≅30 minutes after sedation in the recovery room. Recalled items were evaluated next mo...
