Cochrane celebrates second anniversary of shared commitment to public involvement in health and social care research

Cochrane marks the second anniversary of its commitment toPublic Involvement in Health and Social Care Research, a pledge launched in March 2022. This commitment underscores Cochrane ' s ongoing efforts to enhance standards and public involvement in health and social care research.  Public involvement refers to all the ways in which the research community works together with people including patients, carers, advocates, service users, and members of the community.Cochrane was one of the first signatories to the commitment alongsidetwelve leading organizations. There are now 21 organizations signed up to the pledge, includingNHS England.Richard Morley, Cochrane ' s Consumer Engagement Officer, reflects on the genesis of this initiative: “The idea of the initiative was to getorganizationsto make a public commitment to involving people in research. Cochrane is part of a whole landscape of different research organizations and we have a particular bit that we specialize in, but what we do affects all the other organizations. ”A notable achievement is the establishment of theCo-Production Methods Group, launched in October 2023. Aligned with the Health Research Authority ' s ‘Putting People First’ commitment, this group spearheads methods research, provides resources for best practice, and supports learning and dissemination activities to help systematic review authors engage with and respond to the needs of consumers.To help people make sense of health evidence, Cochrane ...
