Sonus Microsystems secures $2.1M in funding

Ultrasound technology developer Sonus Microsystems has secured $2.1 million in pre-seed funding. The Canadian company will use the funds to further develop its polymer-based capacitive micromachined ultrasound transducers (polyCMUT) technology for remote diagnostic imaging ultrasound devices and remote monitoring. PolyCMUT is a method of manufacturing ultrasonic transducer arrays that the company says differs from existing piezoelectric technology used in ultrasound devices. The round was led by LDV Capital with participation from angel investors and early-stage funds.
