Exploring the pros and cons of social media in orthodontics: A critical analysis of the perspectives of patients and professionals.

Internet usage is massive, with 66% of the world's population accessing it daily, reaching up to 90% in developed countries and 57% in developing countries1. Social media (SoMe) has a considerable impact on our daily lives, influencing our behaviour and decisions and sometimes crossing boundaries of privacy. On average, people spend roughly 150 minutes daily on social media, with the European region averaging 75 minutes and the South American region at 205 minutes2. The dental and orthodontic community, including professionals and patients, has been dramatically influenced by social media.
