Reflections from retirement

I was Editor-in-Chief of The Knee from 2005 to 2012. I retired from clinical practice 7 years ago. When I became Editor, submissions to the journal were on typed A4 paper with printed photographs. Three copies were required of each submission, two went to the peer reviewers and one was kept in my office at home. The job began with receiving six boxes of submissions from the previous editor, John Newman. By the end of 2006 I had been sent 21 boxes in total. Some submissions had yet to be peer-reviewed, many were out to reviewers, and some were awaiting the editor ’s decision.
