HHS Invests $11 Million to Expand Medical Residencies in Rural Communities

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has awarded nearly $11 million to 15 awardees to establish new residencies in rural communities. Notes that 70% of HRSA's Health Professional Shortage Areas are in rural locations. These funds aim to strengthen the rural healthcare workforce by training doctors in rural locations with an eye toward retaining them in rural locations.
