Rural areas tend to be more heat-vulnerable than other areas according to the Census Bureau's Community Resilience Estimates. Socioeconomic factors and access to healthcare increase the risk. Urban areas benefit from more resources and denser spaces for their heat-relief efforts, barriers rural areas have to overcome.
