Puritan Medical Products shuts down Portland plant, ending expansion that promised 632 jobs

Puritan had added its manufacturing and distribution capacity in spring 2021, buoyed by major government contracts and surging demand for specialized swabs used in testing for Covid-19. The plant was designed to produce up to 200 million swabs per month. Now, the company is citing a "post-Covid downturn."
