To become a dermatologist you need to do a medical degree. You then need to do two years of foundation training then two years of core training (normally internal medical training I believe) before applying to dermatology specialty training. During the medical degree and the years of foundation and core training will learn about then rotate through and work in the full range of medical specialties and not just dermatology. Therefore, it is not generally advisable to fixate on a particular specialty before you even start, is the advice that has been given by medics on TSR previously.
The cosmetics industry is also very separate from dermatology and not really that related I don't think?
