Recognizing the Synergistic Impact

I am an avid reader ofNurse Leader. The recent article by Pate and Rankin1 really caught my attention and admiration. Their description of “Joining of 2 Powerful Nursing Forces, the Clinical Nurse Specialist and Clinical Nurse Leader” is spot on. I had been actively involved in the development and promotion of the CNL role early on—recognizing the synergistic impact that the CNL and CNS roles could and should have on advancing nu rsing practice at all points of care. In light of today's staffing and care delivery model challenges, they've done an outstanding job in relaying the value-added impact that these 2 roles have.
