Intraoperative avulsion fracture of the intercondylar eminence in Oxford mobile-bearing unicompartmental knee arthroplasty: Case report

Unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) has good postoperative results and long term survival [1]. Benefits include lower invasiveness, faster recovery and lower mortality compared with total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The revision rate has been reported to be higher than after TKA, however, and complications can occur. Tibial fractures are serious complications that are especially prevalent in Asian individuals [2]. Most of these fractures have been reported to occur in the medial tibial plateau postoperatively, and there is a small number of reports on intraoperative fracture of the intercondylar eminence.
