Using Standardized Patient Simulation in Undergraduate Nursing Education: A Scoping Review
Nursing students need to master a significant amount of knowledge, skills, and attitudes as part of their professional nursing education. Providing reliable exposure to all essential competencies can be a challenge. Simulation in various formats has been used as an effective adjunct to supervised clinical practice (Svellingen, Søvik, Røykenes,& Bratteb ø, 2021). INACSL (International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning), ASPE (Association of Standardized Patient Educators), and SSH (Society of Simulation in Health Care) defined the standardized patient (also known as the simulated patient) as a person who is trained to play t he role of patient or other roles in the scenario (INACSL Lewis et al., 2017; Lioce et al., 2020; Standards Committee, Molloy, Holt, Charnetski,& Rossler, 2021).
