Overexpression of SerpinB9 in non-seminomatous germ cell tumors
Med Mol Morphol. 2023 Nov 22. doi: 10.1007/s00795-023-00374-9. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSerpinb9 is an inhibitor of granzyme B and is potentially involved in the immune escape of tumor cells. In the present study, bioinformatics analysis using open databases suggested that SerpinB9 is overexpressed in testicular embryonal carcinoma. Immunohistological analysis was performed on 28 cases of testicular germ cell tumors to investigate the relationship between SerpinB9 expression in testicular germ cell tumors and the tumor immune environment. SerpinB9 was significantly upregulated in the non-seminoma group and inversely c...

Immunohistological analysis was performed on 28 cases of testicular germ cell tumors to investigate the relationship between SerpinB9 expression in testicular germ cell tumors and the tumor immune environment. SerpinB9 was significantly upregulated in the non-seminoma group and inversely correlated with the number of tumor-infiltrating CD8-positive cells. In addition, yolk...

Administration of a glypican ‐3 peptide increases the infiltration and cytotoxicity of CD8+ T cells against testicular yolk sac tumor, associated with enhancing the intratumoral cGAS/STING signaling
ConclusionsThese data indicated that GPC3 peptide-specific CD8+ T cells had potent antitumor activity against TYST tumor, particularly for combined treatment with the peptide, which was partially dependent on the intratumoral cGAS/STNG signaling. GPC3 peptide vaccine may be valuable for the combination treatment of TYST. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Testicular Mixed Teratoma and Yolk Sac Tumor, Prepubertal Type: A Case Report with Summary of Prior Published Cases
CONCLUSION: We report a testicular mixed teratoma and yolk sac tumor, prepubertal type along with summary of prior published cases. There is only one report describing this combination of mature teratoma with yolk sac tumor in the prepubertal testis.PMID:37946365 | DOI:10.1080/15513815.2023.2279132 (Source: Fetal and Pediatric Pathology)

Survival outcomes and establishment of a novel risk stratification system in patients with ovarian yolk sac tumors
CONCLUSION: This risk stratification system based on tumor stage and the interval between treatment and normalization of AFP may help to guide clinical management by dividing OYST patients into three risk groups.PMID:37865050 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2023.10.006 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

Alveolar macrophages in lung cancer: opportunities challenges
Alveolar macrophages (AMs) are critical components of the innate defense mechanism in the lung. Nestled tightly within the alveoli, AMs, derived from the yolk-sac or bone marrow, can phagocytose foreign particles, defend the host against pathogens, recycle surfactant, and promptly respond to inhaled noxious stimuli. The behavior of AMs is tightly dependent on the environmental cues whereby infection, chronic inflammation, and associated metabolic changes can repolarize their effector functions in the lungs. Several factors within the tumor microenvironment can re-educate AMs, resulting in tumor growth, and reducing immune ...
