Publishing in a predatory Journal
I recently joined a project that got submitted not too long ago. I didn't know which journal it was going to be submitted to, but I found out that the two journals it was submitted to are predatory.
Both are not pubmed indexed. One of the journals is created by a company with a damning wiki article written on it and the other isn't so damning. Regardless, they're both not great and it isn't the kind of work I'm necessarily proud of. I have a couple of other papers in the pipeline that will...

Question about assistant prof application process
Hi all,
Apologies if this has been asked and answered before. I was searching the forums and could not find a clear answer so I figured I would reach out.
Long story short, I am starting my two-year fellowship in clinical neuropsychology in September. My partner and I both love where we have moved to for fellowship (family nearby, great CoL, etc.). I was looking at the psych jobs wiki and debating applying for a couple of assistant professor jobs that are near-ish to where we live now...

Silly question on whether or not to include this hobby
I like to edit on Wikipedia a lot (and also write my own articles). Yes, I know, we’ve been told for years how unreliable it is. But for what it’s worth, having been on the other side of Wikipedia as an active editor (a very small amount of readers actually go on to actively contribute in editing articles and fixing issues), there are many many rules and regulations in place to make Wikipedia as accurate as can be, with an emphasis on reliable sourcing.
What I particularly enjoy is not only...

Chance of getting into podiatry school after MD failure
I flunked out of medical school for academic reasons, so I'm considering applying to podiatry school. My top choice is Kent State or Temple, since they are close to where I live now (Pittsburgh). My GPA is 3.6 and MCAT 512, but I have no podiatrist shadowing experience (unless you count wikifeet lol). I also have some qualms about podiatry because I was terrible at anything surgery/hands on related in medical school (stitching, cutting/dissecting in anatomy lab, giving shots, taking blood...

Can I use WikiEM for CME?
When I had PEPID, I remember they had a way to convert your past searches into CME credit. Any way to do this for WikiEM? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What do you have in your Roth IRA?
Peter Thiel - Wikipedia
en.m.wikipedia.org
Considering this guy will be able to draw $5 billion tax free from investment in his Roth, it got me thinking: what do you folks invest in when it comes to Roth? Do you do boring index or do you invest more aggressively? I just have done vtsax personally.
Also for folks who haven’t done Roth yet, get on it ASAP! It will be the best investment decision you would make! Do it RIGHT NOW! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is neuro-ophthalmology a subspecialty worth considering?
M4 here, just submitted my residency app for neuro. I don't know much about neuro-ophthalmology and info on it seems relatively sparse compared to other neuro subspecialties... Is it a subspecialty worth considering today? What exactly do they do day to day? What does the field's future look like? Do they do any kinds of surgeries or procedures? According to its Wiki page, neuro-ophthalmologists "may be trained to perform eye muscle surgery to treat adult strabismus, optic nerve...
