Insilico Medicine presented an original deep neural network architecture, Entangled Conditional Adversarial Autoencoder (ECAAE), which generates molecular structures based on various properties such as activity against a specific protein, solubility, and ease of synthesis. ECAAE was used to generate a novel inhibitor of Janus Kinase 3 (JAK3), implicated in rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and vitiligo. Clarify Medical has raised $1 million from 7 investors as part of a $1.5 million offering, according to a document filed with the SEC this week.
The San Diego, California-based company has not publicly clarified how it plans to spend its new funds. Clarify Medical sells an at-home light therapy device designed for people living with psoriasis and vitiligo.
The company’s system uses narrowband ultraviolet B rays to penetrate the skin and slow the growth of affected skin cells. Studies have found that narrowband UVB rays help to clear psoriasis faster compared to broadband UVB, according to Clarify Medical.

Strata Skin Sciences (NSDQ:SSKN) said today it raised $17 million in a new round of financing and announced a number of changes to its executive roster, including an incoming CEO, new board chair and new chief financial officer.
The Horsham, Penn.-based company said that the $17 million round of financing was led by Accelmed Growth Partners and was joined by existing investors Broadfin Capital and Sabby Management and its incoming CEO Dr. Dolev Rafaeli. Strata Skin Sciences (NSDQ:SSKN) said today it raised $17 million in a new round of financing, and that investor Dr. Dolev Rafaeli is slated to take over as interim CEO, with former chief exec Frank McCaney taking the role of interim CFO.
