WAMC- third time applicant, low(ish) gpa
Hi all! I'm a 25 F from VA. In the past I’ve only applied to two schools- VMCVM and UT, during the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 cycles. This will be my third time applying, but I’m expanding my list of schools to 13. Just looking for some feedback on my chances (and whether any of the schools I’m considering aren’t a good option). I’m in the process of finishing up a masters degree, so I’m definitely feeling better compared to past cycles. But, you never know! Applying to: KSU, LIUCVM... Externship/Mentorship Questions
Hello! I will be starting my second year in the fall. Until now my veterinary experience has come through jobs and not so much shadowing or mentorships. I was wondering what questions or things I should ask to do during my summer externship to get the most out of it. One is a mixed animal and the other is equine focused. Should I do some research beforehand on what is common in the area for that practice? What other things should I do to prepare for my externship? Thanks!!! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Ultrasound certificate
Hey everyone! I'm an ER vet that is getting burnt out pretty quickly. I was curious if anyone had suggestions for abdominal ultrasound certifications? I'm not talking 1-2 days of CE, but an actual program to become very efficient. I have no interest in becoming boarded in radiology, I just want to become better trained with ultrasounds for a more thorough diagnostic work-up. Dream job would be doing abdominal ultrasounds in a quiet room all day and giving the report to the DVM and then... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What have you done in high school that set you apart and made you competitive compared to other pre-vet applicants? Any advice on what I should do in high school as a future vet. school applicant? How important is research in high school if I want to get into a top undergraduate program as a pre-vet? Thanks. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

SHWWENANIGOATS: The Unauthorized GGOATS Sequel - GAME THREAD
Once upon a dream... A mermaid Queeb, a dog, and an ethereal goddess of the mod realm walked into a bar. They were just there for the poutine, of course, as none of them were wont to drink currently. But they didn't need the help of spirits to set loose the giggles. The original story - more than a year prior - had been so complicated. So complex. One of them was just a wee pup learning the ropes. But now, a dream was coming to life. Perhaps it was a fever dream. It... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Will 2nd Quartile hurt my chances?
Hi all, this is my second ever time doing the Casper test and unfortunately, this time I scored 2nd quartile. I found the prompts difficult and hard to follow so I'm not surprised I scored the way I did. Right now I'm worrying about how it will look on my application. My GPA isn't the greatest so I was hoping Casper would help my app a little. I'm applying to both Iowa and Kansas with casper - I'm mostly worried about Iowa. Does anyone have experience with getting into Iowa on a low casper? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Non-Traditional Student: 42F, long-term planning for application
Hello all! I'm posting here to get suggestions on planning for a second chance at being a large animal vet! I'm a 42F who should have pursued my dreams of being a large animal vet 20+ years ago. I've decided to go for it when my son graduates high school and will be applying to start vet school Fall 2028. I feel confident I would have been accepted had I applied as an undergrad and I'm hopeful I can still get in! I graduated with a bachelors degree from Texas A&M in 2004 (I have two... WAMC? High GPA very low experience
Hello all, I was hoping for your honesty. I have been working on my vet school app and really realized how little experience I have. I concentrated on my GPA and settling in during my first quarter at UC Davis and then the COVID-19 pandemic hit in my second quarter, so I didn’t get many opportunities there. At community college I strongly regret not doing extracurriculars, but I had extreme social anxiety/undiagnosed autism. I was homeschooled K-12 (explains the social anxiety lol) so I’m...
