Working as a Kennel Tech
Hi everyone! I’m new to the forum but I just wanted to know of you guys’ experience. I recently started a job as a kennel technician, and I have been feeling very under-appreciated and overworked. My shift goes like this: I have to take out approx. 27 dogs to potty, clean each kennel (with water, soap, etc... even if they don’t look dirty), wash blankets and bowls and feed them. Then, I have to give them all their medicines. Then if there are baths, I have to give baths (Mondays are... Working as a Kennel Tech (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Planning on going into GP - internship necessary?
I am currently a 4th year veterinary student. I have been debating about doing an internship since the start of my third year. I honestly plan on just going into small animal GP, but many veterinarians that I have worked with so far in my externships and in clinics all recommend doing an internship. The only veterinarians that did not think internships were necessary were those who never completed an internship themselves.... My main reservation is not being able to live on an intern salary... Equine Internships and dogs
I'm a 3rd year veterinary student currently putting together my clinical year schedule and looking ahead at internships. For my clinical year, my 2 medium sized dogs will be staying with my fiancé when I'm on my equine externships. But, I am starting to worry about what to do with them during my internship. I can't imagine living away from them for an entire year, especially if I am multiple states away (likely). I know some internships allow interns to have pets, but how common is this... Hello all, I am wondering if anyone would be willing to give me an advice, tips, words of encouragement, etc. I am a 24 year old undergrad student with one year left after this semester ends. I plan to apply to vet school possible next year. My current GPA is 3.66, but after this semester I am estimating a 3.46 (I am really struggling with gen chem 1 and am sitting at a C). WAMC - I took a very messy pathway for pre-vet. (An introductory post for me, and a long one at that.)
Hello all, I've spent a few hours away from studying to browse through the forum and there have been a lot of fantastic posts and topics covered. This is my first post here, so please be gentle. I am a 26 year old pre-vet student. My path has been a bit strayed and complicated. -Started out with an AAS in 2012, 3.78 cumulative gpa, 3.9 science gpa. -Began working in a variety of different animal-related fields, and so I had a 3-year long gap before I went back. -Graduated with a BA in... Raising low GPA options
I know there are a few threads on low GPAs, but I'm curious of different ideas to raise it. I was originally going to apply for a masters degree as I found it interesting and I could raise my GPA as well. But my GPA has fallen to a 2.9, I was recently diagnosed with depression and anxiety and got prescribed medication. They weren't kidding when they told me adjusting to medication is difficult, as I had never been on any anti-depressants. But since starting medication, I feel much better and... Massachusetts License: Jurisprudence exam
Looking to register in Massachusetts at the moment and need to take the jurisprudence exam. Does anyone happen to have any tips on finding study materials for the exam? I've searched the MA gov website extensively, but it's difficult to read and navigate. I have a friend who just registered (in another state) and she was able to buy a book for her exam. Not sure if MA has something similar or if I'm stuck reading the legislation online. Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Urgent Care as a business model?
Curious to hear SDNers' thoughts on the concept of urgent care in a veterinary context. For some background...we've been experiencing extremely long wait times in the ERs around where I live, and not all of the cases who come in are true emergencies -- a portion of them (although tbh I'm not sure how many exactly) would fall within a category of "urgent but not critical" if we were talking human medicine. It's also sometimes tough to get an appointment at a GP around here, especially as a... Urgent Care as a business model? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
