2021 Application Cycle
I am currently applying to veterinary schools to start in the fall of 2021. I am looking for people to chat about the essays they have written or take any advice from current vet students have to offer. Or if someone just wishes to be friends so we can talk about our vet med journey together, I would love that too!! Thank you! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Airplane with husky?
Hello, I wanted to ask a question to the students living in Ross University about how they took their pets and the airlines they used. I have a 40 pound husky and if I get into veterinary school I want to know my options on how to take her. Has anyone had experience with this? Especially taking a large breed in the cabin. Since she is a husky I’m worried about her going under the plane and overheating, so that’s not an option. Is there any way or airline that might accept her on top with... Airplane with husky? Do you like dogs and field medicine research?
Help us help dogs and veterinarians! Students from Midwestern University CVM are working to check a system of estimating a dog's weight from a measurement of their neck, chest and length. To help, please make sure that you have a measuring tape that measures in INCHES, a recent (within 5 days) and an accurate weight of your dog in POUNDS. Your dog should be at least 2 months of age. Current vet students/recent grads - what do you want to learn about spay/neuter?
Hey guys! I'm currently assisting with putting together some online training materials on spay/neuter. While obviously it isn't the same as in person, hands on training, we're trying our best to incorporate a lot of related topics, videos, and information sessions that current students who are not getting as much in-person clinical instruction might find helpful to review. I'd love to hear what related topics/general questions you have that you would like to see covered. Ex. pros and cons... Questions about WICHE
Hi all, I’m an AZ resident desperate for IS tuition, and am trying for WICHE status at Midwestern, as well as Oregon, Colorado, and Washington state schools. While I believe I am a strong applicant, I’d love to hear people’s views on how realistic WICHE status might be, as well as thoughts on having to stay in your home state for 4 years after graduation. I am planning to specialize and am wondering if WICHE might prevent me from traveling for opportunities after I graduate. Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Seeking Advice for Fall 2020 Pre-Reqs
Hey guys! Please help me move my question to the appropriate thread...I wasn't really sure where this fits. Here's the situation I am in: I am doing my pre-reqs through a school in NYC. All courses are being offered optionally online, but labs and small group discussions can be in person. I've emailed a handful of vet schools, the majority of which say they will accept the online coursework/lab (however some highly advised against it). Golden Age of Vet Med?
I recently spoke with a vet/clinic owner who told me the golden age of vet med is over (I think he said it was back in 80s). He mostly blamed corporatization, since back in his time a young vet could buy/start a small practice and build it up into a lucrative business, but now corporations are buying all the practices and can easily outbid vets. It's great for the old-timers who can sell their practice for a few million but it blocks a lot of new vets from becoming owners. I've also been... Golden Age of Vet Med? If you aren't familiar with depopulation methods such as ventilation shutdown (VSD), the AVMA has permitted its use in 'constrained circumstances.' Body heat from the herd raises the temperature in the house until animals die from hyperthermia. Numerous variables may make the time to death of 100% of animals in the barn subject to a... Retaking classes for vet school
Hi guys! I was wondering what science grades people recommend to retake. My lowest grades are a C in advanced orgo one and C- in advanced orgo two. I’m definitely retaking orgo two but I was wondering if I should also retake orgo one even though a “C” is acceptable by schools. Thank you!
