Zoster sine herpete
A previous patient came in with a new problem of severe right neck pain that wrapped around to the shoulder, about in a C4 distribution. Nothing on her C spine MRI to explain it, and her skin was hypersensitive to touch. Denied history of rash in the area but did have shingles several years ago on her face. Got an Rx for..
A customer came in with a Rx for Zostavax with MD note saying something like 'ok to immunize based on new guidelines'. I believe the patient age is 51. I check the CDC website and tried to search around for this new guideline but nothing. Anyone know anything about this? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

CK question
I have a question which was puzzling: To prevent transmission of virus from an adult with Herpes zoster to unvaccinated child, what would be the best option? Vaccinate the child with varicella - which for me makes sense while the answer to it was Avoid contact. Can anyone please confirm and explain the answer to me? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
