Differential Pharmacokinetic Interplay of Atorvastatin on Lacosamide and Levetiracetam on Experimental Convulsions in Mice
CONCLUSION: This study has demonstrated that the plasma concentration of ATOR was potentiated in the presence of LACO, but not in the presence of LEVE and it has provided significant protection against both the electro and chemo-convulsive models in mice. This could be due to the symbiotic pharmacokinetic interplay of ATOR with LACO, and possibly, this interplay may interfere with sodium channel conductance.PMID:37921161 | DOI:10.2174/0113892002253895231020100743 (Source: Epilepsy Curr)

Report Finds VA ’s Prescribing of Benzodiazepines to Homeless ‘Risky,’ ‘Inappropriate’
Homeless veterans with mental illness who use Veterans Affairs (VA) health services are less likely to receive prescriptions for benzodiazepines than those with mental illness who are not homeless, according to areport published this week inPsychiatric Services. When homeless veterans are prescribed benzodiazepines, however, they appear more likely than their peers to receive prescriptions that put them at risk for substance use disorder, overdose, and death, the study found.Drug overdose is a leading cause of death among homeless people, and benzodiazepines are often implicated in such overdose deaths, wrote Katherine Koh...

The investigation of antidepressant and anxiolytic effects of pregabalin and its mechanisms of action in rats
CONCLUSION: PGB had a depressant effect in all doses and a dose-dependently anxiolytic effect. In combinations of PGB with AMT, KET, and DZM, it reversed their antidepressant effects. We assumed FLX could be preferred instead of AMT in patients using PGB. When PGB is used in combination, drug interactions should be considered. These results are also very remarkable in terms of pharmacoeconomics.PMID:37886867 | DOI:10.14744/agri.2022.98474 (Source: Agri Dergisi)
