Exploring educational inequalities in hypertension control, salt knowledge and awareness, and patient advice: insights from the WHO STEPS Surveys of adults from nine eastern European and central Asian countries
CONCLUSIONS: There is a strong education gradient in HBP awareness, treatment and control as well as salt knowledge and perceived intake. Enhancements in public and patient knowledge and awareness of HBP and its risk factors targeting socioeconomically disadvantaged groups are urgently needed to alleviate the growing HBP burden in low- and middle-income countries.PMID:36779266 | DOI:10.1017/S1368980023000356 (Source: Public Health Nutrition)

mukhambetova Maternal mortality ratio is one of the sensitive indicators that can characterize the performance of healthcare systems. In our study we aimed to compare the maternal mortality ratio in the Central Asia region from 2000 to 2020, determine its trends and evaluate the association between the maternal mortality ratio and Central Asia countries’ total health expenditures. We also compared the maternal mortality causes before and during the pandemic in Kazakhstan. The data were derived from the public statistical collections of each Central Asian country. Acanthamoeba meningoencephalitis causing secondary hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis in an immunocompetent patient: A first case report
CONCLUSIONS: To the best of our knowledge, we report the first case of Acanthamoeba meningoencephalitis causing secondary HLH. Our case highlights this rare association and the need for extensive clinical and laboratory evaluation of suspected patients by a multidisciplinary team.PMID:36680356 | DOI:10.1177/14782715221149709 (Source: Journal of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh)
