U.S. Life Expectancy Dropped Nearly 2 Years in 2020
It’s clear that 2020 was a terrible year for health in the U.S., but just how terrible is now coming into focus. New mortality data from the National Center for Health Statistics finds that life expectancy dropped by 1.8 years in 2020 compared to 2019, and more than 528,800 more U.S. residents died in 2020 than in 2019. It is the largest single-year increase in annual mortality since 1933, when data for the entire country first became available.

Passage Bio further expands gene therapy research partnership with Penn
Passage Bio has exercised two additional options for potential new drug candidates under its research collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania's gene therapy program.

Mesothelioma Clinical Trial to Involve Drug Studied for COVID-19
A novel phase II clinical trial for malignant mesothelioma is expected to open soon and involve a versatile, biological drug already showing promise in treating severe cases of COVID-19.
Oncotelic Therapeutics Inc., an innovative, immunotherapy/oncology company in Agoura Hills, California, hopes to open the mesothelioma clinical trial by March at a dozen prominent U.S. treatment centers, including the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center, University of Pennsylvania Medicine in Philadelphia and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.

CareAlign is a HIPAA compliant collaborative task management platform integrated into the electronic health record, or EHR, for clinicians and their teams.
