Cluster B:histrionic traits
I have a relatively new client of 3 months that I inherited from a retiring psychologist. No personality pathology, PTSD, OCD, and bipolar 1 disorder. Client has had middle insomnia since November 2022 and is often sleeping 2-4 hours a night. She once fell asleep during our session. This client also stopped her risperdal cold Turkey due to excessive weight gain. She has had a sleep study, seen a sleep psychologist and has tried every sleep medication. She is now on Belsomra and her sleep is... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

ABR Alternate Pathway discussion ?
Hi, I graduated medical school from Turkey, and finished my Diagnostic Radiology training in Germany. I am a board certified Radiologist in Germany. US is a big dream for me since my childhood, and it's seems that attending lifestyle in the US beats all the others. I found that an IMG who is certified DR in his homecountry can be board eligible if he finishes 4 year ACGME accreditated fellowship. So in theory, if I work as a fellow for 4 consecutive year in a ACGME accreditated program... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Can someone please explain the situation about international applicants?
Hi SDN, Hope you are all doing well and my best wishes for Turkey day! As a current applicant with non-citizen status I've always wondered how we are evaluated differently/similarly in the application process versus domestic applicants. While my cycle has been fortunately decent so far, I really want to start a thread and gather some expert opinion for my fellow international applicants and future prospective students. 1. One question I had is based on Med Ed's post I saw today. Med Ed said: Sorry... Click to expand... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Making thanksgiving thread
As an homage to the smoking meats thread… drop some bomb recipes and plans. I’m gonna do a turkey sous vide and then grill to crisp up the skin. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How did you know to keep moving and/or fully commit?
I know some people quit their job, go to a post-bacc, and go into medicine without looking back, while I've spoken to others that take years taking a class here and there and never quit their "day job" until they get into med school. How did you know this was the career for you? How did you find the motivation to keep moving? For those that jumped in full turkey when and how did you decide? Background: I'm 30 went to top state school for business with lower GPA, work in consulting/tech but... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is it common for surgeons to have bad back problems?
Good afternoon y'all! MS1 here interested in going into surgery. I had a discussion with a current surgeon at my school who mentioned having back problems directly related to the amount of time she spends operating. Just curious, is this a common thing for surgeons? What do y'all do to help take care of your back? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How are my fellow Canadian applicants feeling?
I know we're not at the turkey day deadline just yet and I've heard our applications are reviewed last, even at schools that are "Canadian-friendly" (anecdotal evidence take it as you may). I'm here stressed sitting on 27 MD schools with no response since mid-August. Anyone hear back yet? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
