GOP Debates
I was impressed with Nikki Haley last night and thought she had a good performance. Vivek was too contentious and seemed inexperienced on foreign policy. But, the Orange man still has a huge lead in the polls and will likely get the GOP nomination. I would like for several of the candidates to drop out and see Younkin enter the race. As of now, the field is too splintered for anyone other than Trump to win the GOP nomination. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

The 4th Trump Indictment
The one everyone's been waiting for. The one where Trump asked Georgia's Secretary of State to find him 11,780 more votes. This one's got it all: Guiliani, Meadows, Powell, Eastman, Cheesebro... a veritable menagerie of nincompoops. False Statements, soliciting a public official to violate their oath of office, forgery, impersonating a public officer, conspiracy to impersonate a public officer... They're even throwing RICO charges at them! Any brave MAGA anesthesiologists looking to do more... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Trump Can't Win
Donald Trump can't win the general election. Yes, he will win the primary but lose "bigly" in the 2024 election. I will be voting third party for the first time in my life if Trump gets the GOP nomination. I suspect 1/3 of GOP voters feel the same way. My hope, and it is a long shot, is that for the firs time in American history the third party candidate wins the Presidency. Again, I know Joe Manchin is a long shot but I have to vote my conscience. any one with similar experience
I am doing my neuro residency. This program is mostly filled with FMGs, cos no american can stand this program due to its work ethics. anyways, I was threatened by my PD saying that if i complain, he would ruin life by messing with my fellowship & license application. He keeps pulling that trump card on other FMGs resident also, and we are not able to do anything abt it. any advice? Cos I know the hospital will support him cos we are expendable. we feel like slaves. He even prepared us for... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Off topic: Politics
As a previous Trump voter I just don't feel that magic he captured 7 years ago. As much as I strongly feel he was a far better president than the current debacle, I won't get behind him this go around. I'll sit it out even if it means another disastrous 4 years of Resthome Joe and VP Giggles. I just want Trump to go away at this point. How do Center and Right Leaners on this board feel? Do you want Trump as the candidate? And if not, will you get behind him if he is the candidate... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Ron Desantis "Vaccine Accountability Roundtable"
Desantis is making vaccine skepticism a defining feature of his upcoming 2024 Presidential campaign. It will be a way for him to separate himself from Trump who (despite his other failings) promoted Operation Warp Speed and urged his constituents to get vaccinated half-heartedly. Desantis features prominent covid vaccine contrarians and skeptics with dubious research to promote his political agenda. He wants to create a "public health integrity committee" which... Mid Term Elections- Lessons Learned
The results of the mid term elections were pretty clear to me that the country is still moderate/centrist and for many states that is the candidate which will win elections. I hope the era of Trump is over and TOXIC TRUMP will go retire in his multiple homes. Trump the person, isn't good for the GOP or this nation. While I voted for Mr. Trump 2 x in previous elections, I believe his time is past and the nation needs to move on from the man. We can continue to debate policies, disagree on... Goldwater Violation
If I recall there were a few Psychiatrists who made comments on Trump or other public people in the past 4 years. Has there been any consequences for any of these Psychiatrists opining on public figures? Or has the medical establishment further denigrated* and we are now in the midst of open season with commentary and off the cuff assessments? *The debacle of Yale offering CME that openly expressed racial hate and murderous expressions. Graduating fellows....any advantage of going into PP instead of hospital employee?
Hospital employee jobs seem to trump PP jobs in every facet of the game. Higher starting pay, check. Less risk for the new physician, check. Strong in network referral system, check. Better retirement vehicles, check. I don't see how pp groups are able to recruit any fellows. Hospitals are reimbursed more for procedures too; I don't understand how pp pain groups can survive in this environment. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

ROHub heating up
I have been following with great interest the debate on whether the ASTRO PAC should not give campaign contributions to candidates who challenged President Biden's election. While withholding money would certainly put ASTRO on record against questioning the reality-based community, there is so much more that ASTRO could do to draw a clear line in the sand. To start with, ASTRO could bar Trump supporters from leadership roles in the organization, and from giving invited talks and chairing... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Democratic Socialists 2021
Let's assume the Democrats win the Presidential election and retain the House of Rep. Let's also assume the Senate stay GOP 51-49. Realistically, what can the Biden/?Klobuchar administration get passed through Congress? What will Biden propose in his first 100 days? 1 trillion infrastructure bill? Expand Medicare to start at age 60? Unless the Democrats secure the Senate I don't see much progressive legislation getting passed. Maybe, a rollback of Trump tax cuts? Higher brackets...
