Does lidocaine reduce pain intensity during corticosteroid injection? A double-blind randomized controlled equivalence trial
J Hand Surg Eur Vol. 2024 Apr 20:17531934241245036. doi: 10.1177/17531934241245036. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTOf the strategies considered to limit the discomfort of corticosteroid injection, one is to inject without lidocaine to reduce the total volume and avoid acidity. In a Bayesian trial, adults receiving corticosteroid injections were randomized to receive 0.5 mL of triamcinolone with or without 0.5 mL of lidocaine. Serial analysis was performed until a 95% probability of presence or absence of a 1.0-point difference in pain intensity on the 0-10 Numerical Rating Scale was reached. Injections with lidocaine were a...

Pollybeak deformity in rhinoplasty: prevention and treatment
CONCLUSIONS: We concluded that excessive supra-tip scarring is not directly related to a surgical error but rather depends on the patient and tissue healing. Care should be taken to avoid over-resecting the bony dorsum. Tip support should be provided to prevent inefficient tip support from causing an under-projected tip. However, efforts should be made to minimize supra-tip dead space and possibly proceeding pollybeak formation through proper bandaging.PMID:38639509 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202404_35898 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

Dual Drug Therapy Versus Single Drug Therapy in Prevention of Pinna Keloid Recurrence
AbstractKeloids are fibroproliferative disorders caused due to injury to skin. The recurrence rate has been found to be as high as 100% even after surgical excision. The high recurrence rate has led to the need for various adjuvant therapies as a single approach alone has not been found to be efficient in preventing recurrence. This attributes to the need for a multimodal approach. Steroids are found to be useful in preventing recurrence. To evaluate the efficacy of the combination of hyaluronidase with corticosteroid injection compared to corticosteroid injection alone in the prevention of recurrence of keloid after surgi...

Graves ’ disease thyroid dermopathy: a case report
ConclusionThis report describes rare presentations of thyroid dermopathy mimicking lymphatic malformation. The Koebner phenomenon can explain this patient ’s atypical presentations. Intralesional injections of triamcinolone and total thyroidectomy showed clear improvement. (Source: Journal of Medical Case Reports)

Post-radiation lichen planus: a  case report and review of the literature
ConclusionOnce more biopsy-proven cases of post-radiation lichen planus are reported, hopefully the exact mechanism can be elucidated. This may identify risk factors and aid in treatment, with the goal of limiting radiation toxicity and palliation of symptoms that may affect the quality of daily life. Triamcinolone acetonide alleviates benign biliary stricture by ameliorating biliary fibrosis and inflammation
BMB Rep. 2024 Mar 25:6139. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWe conducted a comprehensive series of molecular biological studies aimed at unraveling the intricate mechanisms underlying the anti-fibrotic effects of triamcinolone acetonide (TA) when used in conjunction with fully covered self-expandable metal stents (FCSEMS) for the management of benign biliary strictures (BBS). To decipher the molecular mechanisms responsible for the anti-fibrotic effects of corticosteroids on gallbladder mucosa, we conducted a comprehensive analysis. This analysis included various methodologies such as immunohistochemistry, ELISA, real-time PC...
