Future Prospects of Interventional Pulmonology
Hi, I am currently a resident who is very interested in IP. Lung cancer and transplant were my original interests before discovering this field which complements my strong interests in procedures as well. I know prior threads on this topic have been here but its been been several years and the field has advanced so wanted to ask a few questions. 1. What is the job market like for IP? Is it still mainly just in academic centers with limited jobs available? 2. Is it possible to work mainly... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

The Hammer of God
I’m incredibly proud of my EM training. As y’all know I’m now on the other side of the admit phone taking Critical Care admits at various sites. By and large the busiest days in trauma, surgical, medical ICU are a (complex, intellectually exciting) breeze compared to a shift in the pit. But I’ve finally found a unit that’s got us beat. Transplant surgery ICU. Patients so medically fragile the wire from an IJ can put them into VTACH. Either immediately pre or post enormous surgical... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Listing Internship on AMCAS
Hello all, I was just wondering if listing a transplant surgery clinical internship would be acceptable as one of my clinical experiences. Essentially my role is to assist clinical teams in the determination of organ suitability, round on patients pre/post transplant, and I also get the chance to go on any donor run/transplant that fits within the bounds of my schedule. This is an ongoing part time position. Further, this is not my only clinical experience. Thanks in advance!! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Improving GFR estimation in kidney transplant recipients will require approaches other than new eGFR equations based, like previous ones, on age, sex and creatinine.

Transplant Nephrology
Hi guys, second year resident who is interested in transplant nephrology. Love in the interdisciplinary interaction with other medical teams especially surgery as well as all the medicine that is involved (nephrology, immunology, BP management, infectious disease). Was wondering if anyone has an idea what the job market is like for transplant nephrology, the average salary, inpatient vs. outpatient split, and lifestyle in general. Thank you! Refusing a heart transplant
Hospital refusing heart transplant for man who won't get vaccinated Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston says its policy won't allow DJ Ferguson to have the surgery since not being vaccinated seriously hurts its chances for success and his long-term outlook. www.cbsnews.com I've never seen such an incredible display of standing by ones' principles. Bravo to you, sir! Know that as your heart beats its last pump you have remained strong in the face of medical oppression and adversity! (Source: Student Doctor Network)
