Surgical Airway Complications [Medical Malpractice Lawsuit]
Interesting case here: Surgical Airway Complications 44-year-old man scheduled for elective septoplasty and turbinate resection for OSA. Multiple DL attempts fail, VL gets grade 2 view but can't pass tube, fiberoptic fails. Guy gets bagged for.... 2 hours??! Then gets a tracheotomy. Wish we had the full medical records but fascinating case nonetheless. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I am curious about which procedures the attendings on this forum currently perform in private practice. The main procedures I'm considering are EBUS, ENB, bronchial thermoplasty, Pleurex catheter placement and percutaneous tracheostomy. One-Lung Isolation and Pt with a Tracheostomy
How would you isolate one lung in a patient with a tracheostomy? I recall doing this case as a resident and involved the use of a bronchial blocker. Don't remember the exact details. I think we just threaded the bronchial blocker through a port (a Uniblocker??) which hooked up to the pt's tracheostomy attachment which was connected to the breathing circuit the entire time. What is the difference between a Univent and a Uniblocker?? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

RT for anaplastic thyroid carcinoma
Dear colleagues, I have an 85 yo, very gd PS that has non-metastatic thyroid anaplastic carcinoma, that has undergone debulking surgery and tracheostomy. He was referred for RT. The tumor board at his institution refused to do RT because in their experience, all pts progressed during the treatment. The pt was referred to me for second opinion. What do you recommend ?
