Dental Disease on Step 1 and Comlex?
I'm at a school where the faculty also teach the dental and optometry students. I can't help but feel like we are getting way more dental info than we need for boards. I'm wondering from anyone who has taken Step/Comlex. Did you see much about gum disease, tooth development, and things like that? We're in micro for example and there is all this stuff about oral bacteria, fine, but then we're spending all this time learning about how to treat dental caries and the bacteria involved (none of... Dentists and Halloween!
In spirit of this wonderful day, I wanted to ask the question: Do dentists give out candy? I know of dentists who actually offer to buy trick-or-treaters' candy to promote tooth-decay awareness. Personally I'd dress up as a Colgate tube and give out bags with my business card, candy, and floss . And on a side note, do dentists ever eat candy/sweets themselves? Atypical CF? Mild? Or maybe not?
Does anyone have of know what could possibly be synptoms of atypical or mild CF? My oldest son, who is about to be 7, has for all his life had repeats respitory infections. He has severe bronchitis at least two to three times a year, and always has a nasal infection. My other 4 never catch it either. He also has chronic constapation that he has had since a baby. It has gotten to the point where he has tears that bleed. He's also has really bad tooth decay, and has needed lots of cavities filled. Our pediatrician doesn't seem to be too concerned. My son was never tested for CF as a newborn because they didn't donthe testing...
