The expression of peripheral blood inflammatory factors in patients with acute ischemic stroke and its correlation with patients' prognosis
In conclusion, NLR and PLR have certain predictive values for the prognosis of AIS patients who received thrombolytic therapy, and they can serve as indicators for disease monitoring and prognosis evaluation of AIS patients.PMID:38279487 | DOI:10.14715/cmb/2023.69.15.14 (Source: Cellular and Molecular Biology)

Tenecteplase-associated orolingual angioedema: A case report and literature review
CONCLUSION: Although rare, OA is a potentially life-threatening complication of tenecteplase therapy and requires prompt pharmacological intervention to optimize patient outcomes. Currently, no single agent or treatment algorithm exists that has shown significant efficacy or safety in the setting of thrombolytic-associated OA. Until data are available for C1 esterase inhibitors in this application, these inhibitors should only be considered if there is continued symptom progression after intravenous administration of corticosteroids and antihistamines.PMID:38270186 | DOI:10.1093/ajhp/zxad334 (Source: American Journal of He...

Perioperative and Long-term Outcomes of Patients with Pulmonary Embolism Undergoing Catheter-directed Thrombolysis versus Percutaneous Mechanical Thrombectomy
Thrombolytic therapy has long been the mainstay of treatment for massive or sub-massive pulmonary embolism (PE), which remains a common yet highly morbid condition. Percutaneous mechanical thrombectomy options have more recently become widely available and have been utilized for the treatment of acute PE, but evidence comparing the two options remains limited. Thrombolytic therapy based on lyophilized platelet-derived nanocarriers for ischemic stroke
Intravenous administration of fibrinolytic drugs, such as recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA) is the standard treatment of acute thrombotic diseases. However, current fibrinolytics exhibit limited ... (Source: Journal of Nanobiotechnology)

Triage of Emergent Large Vessel Occlusion (ELVO) patients directly to Comprehensive Stroke Centers (CSCs) is good practice and benefits patients in Urban and Suburban population Centers - New insights from the TRIAGE-STROKE and RACECAT studies
In 2013, three randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing the interventional management of stroke with intravenous (IV) thrombolytic therapy were simultaneously published in the New England Journal of Medicine.1–3 These trials showed neither benefit nor harm associated with endovascular stroke therapies and the widespread interpretation of their collective results can be summarized with the blanket statement that "thrombectomy is not effective for the treatment of stroke". However, the SWIFT and TREVO studies (published in 2012) had clearly demonstrated that the interventional approaches used in the three RCTs wer...

Can GRACE Risk Score Predict Mortality and the Need for Thrombolytic Treatment in Acute Pulmonary Embolism?
Acute pulmonary embolism (PE) is one of the most frequent causes of in-hospital cardiovascular death.1,2 Patients with PE presenting with hypotension or shock particularly have high mortality, thus thrombolytic therapy is recommended in these circumstances.3,4 The PE Severity Index (PESI), a risk stratification method according to European Society of Cardiology PE Guidelines, is a well-established scoring system that could detect early mortality risk.5 PESI is mainly based on clinical parameters, however, it has been shown that its sensitivity may be improved using additive biomarkers such as troponin (Tn) or N-terminal pr...
