Development of an LC –MS/MS method for the determination of five psychoactive drugs in postmortem urine by optimization of enzymatic hydrolysis of glucuronide conjugates
ConclusionsWe have established an LC –MS/MS method for five psychoactive drugs in urine after enzymatic hydrolysis of glucuronide conjugates directly on extraction columns. The method was successfully applied to forensic autopsy samples. The established method will have broad applications, including forensic and clinical toxicologica l investigations. Single-Cell Meta-Analysis of Neutrophil Activation in Kawasaki Disease and Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children Reveals Potential Shared Immunological Drivers
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings indicate that CD177+ neutrophils may exert systemic pathological damage contributing to the shared morbidities in KD and MIS-C. We uncovered potential regulatory drivers of CD177+ neutrophil hyperactivation and pathogenicity that may be targeted as a single therapeutic strategy for either KD or MIS-C.PMID:37905415 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.123.064734 (Source: Circulation)

Species-specific bioaccumulation and risk prioritization of psychoactive substances in cultured fish
In this study, the accumulation and risk of twenty psychoactive substances were investigated in five species of cultured fish in Eastern China. The results showed that the total concentrations of these twenty psychoactive substances ranged from 0.15 to 0.92 ng mL-1 in the plasma among the five species of cultured fish with an order of perch > crucian carp > bighead carp > grass carp > silver carp. Diazepam (DIAZ) and methamphetamine (MAMP) were identified as the most frequently detected compounds, which were found in 100% and 93% of the samples with a median concentration of 0.15 and 0.12 ng mL-1 in the plasma,...

Effects of tranquilization therapy in elderly patients suffering from chronic non-communicable diseases: A meta-analysis
Acta Pharm. 2023 Jan 24;73(1):43-57. doi: 10.2478/acph-2023-0003. Print 2023 Mar 1.ABSTRACTThe current meta-analysis searched the literature connected to different tranquilizers used to treat elderly people and assessed it in terms of dose, types of outcomes and adverse effects, to determine a safe and acceptable tranquilizer and its optimal dose. A systematic literature review was undertaken for randomized controlled trials, case-control, retrospective and prospective studies on the use of tranquilizers in elderly patients, using PubMed, Ebsco, SCOPUS and Web of Science. PICOS criteria were used to select studies, and per...
