Renin inhibition and the long-term renal function in patients with hypertensive emergency: a retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: DRI can successfully suppress PRA in patients with high-renin hypertensive emergency in both subacute and chronic phases. An efficient RAS blockade is associated with preserved renal function in these patients.PMID:37819695 | DOI:10.1093/ajh/hpad099 (Source: American Journal of Hypertension)

First-line diuretics versus other classes of antihypertensive drugs for hypertension
CONCLUSIONS: When used as first-line agents for the treatment of hypertension, thiazides and thiazide-like drugs likely do not change total mortality and likely decrease some morbidity outcomes such as cardiovascular events and withdrawals due to adverse effects, when compared to beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, ACE inhibitors, and alpha-blockers.PMID:37439548 | PMC:PMC10339786 | DOI:10.1002/14651858.CD008161.pub3 (Source: Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews)

Impact of multimorbidity on mortality in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction: which comorbidities matter most? An analysis of PARADIGM ‐HF and ATMOSPHERE
ConclusionsIn HF, the impact of multimorbidity differed at the individual patient and population level, depending on the prevalence of and the risk related to each comorbidity, and the interaction between individual comorbidities. Patients with coexistent PAD and stroke were at greatest individual risk whereas, from a population perspective, coexistent CKD and hypertension mattered most.
