ROS-sensitive calcipotriol nano-micelles prepared by methoxypolyethylene glycol (mPEG) - modified polymer for the treatment of psoriasis
In this study, a ROS-sensitive material methoxypolyethylene glycol-thioether-thiol (mPEG-SS) was synthesized using mPEG as the parent structure with sulfide structural modification. An mPEG-SS-calcipotriol (mPEG-SS-CPT, PSC) nano-micelle percutaneous delivery system was prepared by encapsulating CPT. A small animal imaging system was used to study PSC's the ROS-sensitive drug release process. It is shown that endogenous ROS mainly affects PSC and releases drugs. Finally, the therapeutic effect of PSC on psoriasis was explored by animal experiments. Ultimately, it ameliorates imiquimod-induced psoriasis-like inflammation. O...

Calcipotriol abrogates cancer-associated fibroblast-derived IL-8-mediated oxaliplatin resistance in gastric cancer cells via blocking PI3K/Akt signaling
In this study we first conducted immunohistochemistry analysis on tissue microarrays including 88 pairs of GC and normal mucosa samples, and provided clinical evidence that VDR was mainly expressed in gastric mucous cells but almost invisible in CAFs, and VDR expression was negatively correlated with malignant clinical phenotype and advanced stages, low VDR expression confers to poor overall survival rate of patients with GC. In a co-culture system of primary CAFs and cancer cells, we showed that treatment of HGC-27 and AGS GC cells with VDR ligand calcipotriol (Cal, 500 nM) significantly inhibited CAF-induced oxaliplatin ...

Efficacy, quality of life and treatment satisfaction: an indirect comparison of calcipotriol/betamethasone dipropionate cream versus foam for treatment of psoriasis
Conclusions: Indirect comparison analyses showed that Cal/BDP cream significantly improves treatment satisfaction and tends to improve QoL versus foam. Cal/BDP cream is on par with foam on efficacy.PMID:35575759 | DOI:10.1080/03007995.2022.2078099 (Source: Current Medical Research and Opinion)

An ultrasensitive UHPLC-ESI-MS/MS method augmented with a controlled microwave derivatization reaction for quantitation of vitamin D3 and its major metabolites in COVID-19 patients
Talanta. 2022 Apr 22;246:123497. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2022.123497. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIt is established that vitamin D deficiency is correlated with the disease severity in COVID-19 patients. However, the reliable and sensitive quantitation of vitamin D3 (D3) and its metabolites remains a difficult challenge. Herein, a novel ultrasensitive and reliable UHPLC-ESI-MS/MS method was developed and validated for the quantitation of D3 and its major metabolites in COVID-19 patients. The mass spectral sensitivity was augmented via controlled microwave-assisted derivatization reaction (CMDR) with 2-nitrosopyridine (Pyr...

Vitamin D analogs combined with different types of phototherapy in the treatment of vitiligo: A systematic review of randomized trials and within-patient studies
CONCLUSIONS: The current evidence suggests that the additional use of topical calcipotriol or tacalcitol to NB-UVB may increase the treatment effect of vitiligo, and the effect of tacalcitol is greater than that of calcipotriol. None of the vitamin D analogs were found to enhance the efficacy of PUVA or EL for vitiligo.PMID:35468365 | DOI:10.1016/j.intimp.2022.108789 (Source: International Immunopharmacology)
